Tulane frosh Dan Fitzgerald looking for new home

Dan Fitzgerald, a 6-foot-8 freshman forward, has left Tulane and is looking for a new school. Fitzgerald averaged 4.2 points in 14.8 minutes per game as a freshman for the Green Wave and was given his release Friday.

Dan Fitzgerald was the St. Paul Pioneer Press Metro Defensive Player of the year as a senior and averaged 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block per game for Mendota Heights (MN) St. Thomas Academy. Fitzgerald is receiving interest from Minnesota, Marquette, Georgetown, Northern Iowa, Illinois State, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Fitzgerald is an excellent outside shooter, although he struggled with his shot this past season. He shot 35.6 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from the line and 29 percent from three-point range.

Fitzgerald would have to sit out next season and have three years of eligibility left. St. Thomas has 6-9 sophomore Bryce Webster and several schools that are looking at Fitzgerald are also recruiting Webster.
