New York receiver names favorites

Flushing (N.Y.) Holy Cross wide receiver Kevin Ogletree expects to build on his one scholarship offer after strong performance at the Penn State Nike Combine

Receiver Kevin Ogletree turned heads with when he posted a 4.41-second 40-yard dash at the Penn State Nike Combine. Ogletree, who also performed well in one-on-one drills, expects to build on his one scholarship offer.

"So far on the table, its just Syracuse," Ogletree said. "But I have a couple (offers) that are supposed to be coming in soon. Penn State, Maryland and Virginia are close (to offering)."

Maryland, actually, might hold off on offering Ogletree until they get the 6-foot-1, 171-pounder in camp. They like what they have seen on film, but were one of the few coaching staffs not present at PSU's Nike Combine.

"They didn't really get a chance to come see me at Nike Camp," Ogletree said. "That is the only school that hasn't seen what I can do first hand. So they want me to come there and show them.

"(Defensive line coach Dave Sollazzo) told me the highlight film was good, but they just want to get a look at me [in person]. He also wants me to come down one day to meet the coaches. He told me how they like the chances of me being offered on the spot at camp, because it has happened in the past."

Despite an unfinished offers sheet, Ogletree has narrowed things down to six schools.

"Pretty much a top six in no order of preference would be probably Syracuse, Virginia, Penn State, Maryland, Wisconsin and Boston College," he said. "Some of those schools are known as having a strong academic program. I want to go to a school (where) I can play early, and all those schools are giving me that chance."

In just 11 games, Ogletree pulled in 40 passes for 1,027 yards (25.7 average) and 11 touchdowns.
