EJ Morton-Green recruiting update

OhioPrepScene.com broke the first story on EJ Morton-Green about a month ago. Now, Craig Schwieterman checks in with an update on one of the hottest prospects in SW Ohio.

As we told you in the first story on EJ Morton-Green, we expected his recruiting to heat up.  So far he has not disappointed.  The big athletic receiver from Cincinnati Princeton is getting calls and visits on a regular basis.

Morton-Green attended the Nike camp at Ohio State a few weeks back and did pretty well.  He measured in at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds.  He performed well in the 40 by running a 4.56 and clocked a 4.3 shuttle time.  He also recorded a 32-inch vertical jump. These are not EJ's best numbers, but still strong regardless. What especially makes them great is the fact that he ran track the night before. He was planning on skipping the camp because he was tired, but decided to attend anyway.

Speaking of track, Morton-Green has done excellent this year in the 400 meters.  He recorded a personal record of 50.20 and took second in the Greater Miami Conference meet in that event behind only future Buckeye defensive back Brandon Underwood (Hamilton).  He took first place in the 400 at the Mason District, but could not run Regionals due to a conflict with family plans.

While Morton-Green did well at the OSU Nike Camp, it is not the only camp he will be attending. The Princeton team will be heading southeast to North Carolina State for a June 6-9 team camp. Along with that, Morton-Green also intends on camping at the OSU Senior-Advanced camp, the Cincinnati camp, and the Florida Gator camp.  Princeton coach Brian Dodds has connections in Florida and Morton-Green hopes that can help him in draw recruiting interest in the South.

So what about the offers?  Surprisingly, there have been no offers yet, but some are expected in the near future.  Morton-Green is taking the SAT June 5, and once qualifying results come back, the offers should start coming in. A handful of MAC schools as well as Cincinnati, Duke and Iowa are all close to offering. The test score might be what they are waiting on.

The Princeton Viking may not have an official offer on the table yet, but the attention he is getting sure has not slowed down.  He is hearing from nearly every school in the Midwest and a few more from around the country.  Here is a list of schools that have contacted EJ:

Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Duke, Boston College, Miami (Ohio), Cincinnati, Army, Kentucky, Tennessee, most MAC schools, and others who regularly recruit this area.  Kentucky and Tennessee recently stopped in for a visit. He has also recently talked to Illinois, Cincinnati, Duke and Miami (Ohio).

As I have said before and will say again, do not sleep on this kid. He's the real deal.  He has that big frame coaches are looking for and he has the speed and athleticism to go with it. I still think he is one of the top five receivers in Ohio this year, regardless what the 'experts' are saying. Camps and his SAT results are only going to boost Morton-Green's stock.  Stay tuned for more on him and other top players from the Buckeye State.
