ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll released Friday morning ranks UW for eighth consecutive season

Following a 7-6 campaign in 2003, the Wisconsin football team debuts at No. 22 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll, released Friday. It marks the eighth consecutive season the Badgers have cracked the Top 25 in the preseason poll.

Wisconsin claimed 248 points in the preseason balloting to become one of six Big Ten teams in the initial Top 25. Michigan (No. 7, 1,128 points), Ohio State (No. 9, 1,030), Iowa (No. 12, 642), Purdue and Minnesota (tied for No. 23, 187) are the others. Michigan State and Penn State also received votes.

USC opens the season at No. 1, followed by Oklahoma and LSU.

Wisconsin's players report to the Bishop O'Connor Catholic Center in Madison for fall camp Aug. 10, with practices beginning the following day. The Badgers opener against Central Florida is scheduled for Sept. 4 at Camp Randall Stadium at 11 a.m. CDT. ESPN will carry the game live.
