Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School linebacker/defensive lineman Ryan Bain spent six-and-a-half hours in Madison, Wis., Monday, visiting the University of Wisconsin campus and meeting with head coach Barry Alvarez, defensive line coach John Palermo and recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Rob Ianello.
"It went real well," Bain said of his visit. "I got to sit down with coach Alvarez and coach Palermo a lot and Coach Ianello just showed me around the whole campus.
"The overall campus is really nice.
"I'll tell you, Wisconsin is at the very top (of the list) probably."
Bain tempered that last comment, stating that he is still wide open and in no hurry to make a decision, which he plans to really focus on after his high school season is complete.
"I'm not really sure right now," he said. "I have to think about things."
Bain also said he was not sure where he would take his official visits, but Wisconsin will likely receive strong consideration.
"I'll probably take one to Wisconsin," Bain said. "I'm not really sure about any official visits yet. I'm not positive about anything. I just don't know right now."
A linebacker, tight end and fullback at Bolingbrook, the Badgers are recruiting Bain as a defensive end.
"They said I'm a great fit for the program and they just basically said they like the way I play," Bain said.
Bain also spoke with Wisconsin strength and conditioning coach John Dettman and watched some of the Badgers lift. Bain, who stands 6-foot-2, 260 pounds, felt he would fit right in. After all, he bench presses 425 pounds, squats a little more than 600 and dead lifts 565, he said.
"Watching those guys lift I'm as strong as most of them that I saw anyway," Bain said. "I know there are probably some really strong guys there. They were putting up some good numbers. It was good to see them lifting and see what they did with their program and stuff like that and how they did things."
Bain said the trip to Wisconsin completed his unofficial visit circuit this summer. He has also traveled to Purdue, Iowa, Nebraska, Iowa State and Michigan State. In addition to the schools he has visited unofficially, Bain is still considering Minnesota, Ohio State, UCLA and Oregon, among others, he said.
