Wisconsin is the 21st best team in the nation heading into the 2004 season, according to the Associated Press. The AP released its preseason Top 25 poll and placed Wisconsin at No. 21, ahead of No. 24 Purdue and No. 25 Minnesota, among Big Ten teams. Michigan and Ohio State are No. 8 and 9, respectively, while Iowa is No. 19.
The Badgers went 7-6 last season, losing to Auburn 28-14 in the Music City Bowl.
