Vermeulen earns Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week
Junior forward Amy Vermeulen picked up Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors after she had five goals in two games over the weekend.
Vermeulen earned two goals in a 3-0 win over North Dakota State Friday and picked up a hat trick against Boston College in Wisconsin's 5-3 win. Vermeulen has eight goals, 19 points and 24 shots this season, all of which are Big Ten standards.
"Amy had a tremendous weekend for us," head coach Dean Duerst said. "It's been great for her to find that kind of success, which she has had consistently throughout the season."
The Badgers are 6-0 and ranked the No. 18 team in the nation.
Volleyball slips out of poll
The Wisconsin volleyball team, listed No. 25 last week in the USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Coaches poll, fell off the top 25 list after finishing 2-1 at the Jayhawk Invitational over the weekend.
Wisconsin defeated Denver 3-0 and Rhode Island 3-1 but fell to No. 24 Kansas. The Badgers are 3-2 this season.
