Sanders, Hawthorne split team defensive honors

Badger defense held Illinois to 206 total yards and just seven points

Linebacker Dontez Sanders and defensive tackle Anttaj Hawthorne were named Wisconsin's co-defensive players of the week Monday for their efforts in the Badgers' 24-7 win over Illinois Saturday.

Sanders led all players with 13 tackles, 2 ½ for loss. He also notched the first two sacks of his career, forcing a fumble on the second. Sanders leads Wisconsin with 33 tackles through five games.

Hawthorne fought through persistent double teams Saturday and had three tackles.
