Carla MacLeod selected to Canada team, several wrestlers listed in preseason polls

MacLeod makes Team Canada roster

Carla MacLeod, a senior defenseman on the Wisconsin women's hockey team, was selected to Canada's Four Nations Cup team, according to Hockey Canada. She will compete against Sweden, Finland and Team U.S.A.—including teammate senior defenseman Molly Engstrom—Nov. 10-14 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Canada will play the United States Nov. 11 but the teams could face each other in the bronze- or gold-medal rounds.

Wrestlers ranked in preseason polls

Several Wisconsin wrestlers are ranked in various preseason polls, including The WrestlingMall.com, Amateur Wrestling News and InterMat Wrestling. The Badgers as a team are ranked No. 18 in InterMat and No. 24 in TWM

Junior Tom Clum is the No. 11 wrestler at 133 pounds, according to AWN and the No. 13 wrestler according to InterMat. Senior Tyler Laudon (141) is No. 7 at his weight in all three polls. AWN and TWM have sophomore Tyler Turner (157) ranked at No. 18 and 19, respectively.

Junior Kelly Flaherty (165) is rated No. 14 by TWM, while twin brother Ryan Flaherty (197) is ranked in all three publications—No. 14 (InterMat), 17 (TWM) and 18 (AWN). Senior Brady Reinke (184) is ranked No. 10 by TWM and AWN and No. 11 by InterMat.

The Badgers open their season against UW-Oshkosh in Green Bay Nov. 5.
