Ohio State hands women's hockey first loss

Wisconsin goaltender Christine Dufour allows first goal of season

The women's hockey team dropped its first loss of the season Saturday, ending a five-game winning streak. The No. 4 Badgers fell to Western Collegiate Hockey Association rival Ohio State 3-1 in Columbus. With the loss, the Badgers falls to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the WCHA while Ohio State moves up to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the WCHA.

Sophomore Sara Bauer picked up Wisconsin's lone goal midway through the first period with an assist from junior forward Sharon Cole.

Ohio State responded midway through the second period with a power-play goal from senior forward Jeni Creary. Wisconsin sophomore goaltender Christine Dufour gave up her first goal this season.

Ohio State took advantage of another power play in the third period and sophomore defenseman Amber Bowman scored the game-winner. The Buckeyes added insurance in the final minutes of the game, as Creary took advantage of a Wisconsin empty net and scored the Buckeyes' final goal.

Dufour recorded 18 saves and gave up two goals while Ohio State sophomore goaltender Erika Vanderveer had 34 saves.
