Swimming nets three honors; Badgers ranked in RichKern poll

Badgers earn three Player of the Week honors

For the second straight week, the Wisconsin men's and women's swimming team won three Big Ten honors, sweeping the men's honors and winning one women's award. The women's team defeated Iowa 243-108 and the men beat Iowa 209-138.

Senior Carly Piper was named the conference female swimmer of the week after she won four events, including the 200- and 500-yard freestyles, where she earned NCAA provisional qualifying times of 1:50.37 and 4:49.80, respectively.

Senior Tim Liebhold earned the men's swimmer of the week honors for winning the 100-yard backstroke, the 200 back, the 200 IM and the 400 IM for participating in the first-place 400 medley relay team.

Freshman diver Josh Bonner picked up his first men's diving award after he won the 1-meter board (386.20) and the 3-meter board (253.24).

Volleyball No. 13 in RichKern rankings

The Wisconsin volleyball team is at No. 13 in the Volleyball Coaches Association Division I rankings. The rankings mimic the NCAA Ratings Percentage Index, which is published at the end of the season. The RichKern rankings give teams an indication of how they may be ranked within their region. Wisconsin is No. 13 overall and No. 4 in the Mideast Region. The Badgers are not ranked in the USA Today/CSTV Top 25 Coaches Poll.
