Volleyball looks in on ranking

Wisconsin just outside latest top 25 poll

The Wisconsin women's volleyball team has won seven consecutive matches, including an upset of then-No. 2 Minnesota Saturday. The Badgers, however, are still on the outside of the latest USA Today/CSTV coaches' poll. With 99 poll points, Wisconsin leads the "others receiving votes" but is still 37 shy of No. 25 Illinois.

The Badgers, fourth in the Big Ten with a 9-3 conference mark, are, however, impressing the computer rankings. In the Rick Kern Percentage Index, which attempts to mimic the system used by the NCAA for tournament seeding purposes, Wisconsin is No. 11 in the nation, No. 4 in the Mideast Region.

The Badgers (15-5 overall), host Northwestern (8-14, 3-9) Wednesday before traveling to face the Illini (15-6, 7-5) Friday.
