UW No. 21 in first AP poll

Badgers open their season Nov. 20 against Pennsylvania

The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team is ranked No. 21 in the first Associated Press poll for the 2004-05 season, released Monday.

The Badgers placed second in the Big Ten last season, finishing 12-4 in conference play and 25-7 overall.

UW hosts its first exhibition game of the year Wednesday at 7 p.m. against UW-Parkside. The Badgers tip off the regular season Nov. 20, when they host Pennsylvania, also at 7 p.m. at the Kohl Center.

The Badgers are one of three Big Ten teams in the top 25, joining No. 5 Illinois and No. 13 Michigan State. Michigan, the 2004 postseason NIT champion, is just outside at No. 27. Indiana received one vote.
