Sherer, Foster wrap up storied prep careers

Badger verbal commits lose playoff games, finish with gaudy numbers

University of Wisconsin verbal commitments tailback Dion Foster and quarterback Dustin Sherer saw their stellar senior high school seasons come to an end Friday night.

Dion Foster and his Richards' teammates lost an Illinois Class 6A quarterfinal to Providence Catholic, 31-0. Foster ran 25 times for 114 yards. He finished his career with 5,464 yards and 75 touchdowns. Richards wrapped up its season 10-2.

Sherer completed 14 of 22 passes for 188 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 48-23 Hamilton Heights loss to Andrean in an Indiana regional playoff game. Hamilton Heights finished its campaign 11-2.

Sherer finished his season 138 of 233 throwing for 2,477 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Andrean quarterback Tommy Finn stole the show Friday, throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns on 17 of 25 passing and running 21 times for 142 yards and three touchdowns.
