Wade may return in mid-December

Badger junior point guard is on indefinite leave of absence

Boo Wade may return to the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team by mid-December, according to a report in The Capital Times Thursday. Wade has been on an indefinite leave of absence since Oct. 25.

Willie Wade, Boo Wade's father, told the newspaper that Boo had said a mid-December return was possible. Willie Wade declined to go into detail regarding the reasons for his son's leave of absence but said his son was focusing on his schoolwork and was working out regularly on his own.

Willie Wade also commended the Badgers' coaching staff and Boo's UW teammates for supporting him.

Under the announced terms of Wade's leave of absence, he is not allowed to take part in any team activities until he and Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan agree that the time is right for his return.

Following the Badgers' practice Thursday afternoon, Ryan refrained from discussing Boo's potential return.

"I don't know what Boo's dad knows or his parents or whatever is going on there," Ryan said. "I just stick to the rules that we have as a coaching staff and as a team and that's not anything that we're commenting on."
