Wisconsin football climbs in polls

Badgers up to No. 17 in media and coaches' rankings

The University of Wisconsin football team wrapped up its 9-2 regular season last week with its second consecutive loss, but Sunday the Badgers moved up to No. 17 in both the Associated Press and the ESPN/USA Today coaches' polls.

Wisconsin moved up three spots in the AP poll as a result of losses by Virginia, Boston College and Arizona State. Virginia had also been ahead of the Badgers in the coaches' poll, allowing UW to move up from No. 18 to No. 17.

In addition to Wisconsin, Iowa (No. 12 AP, No. 14 coaches), Michigan (14/13) and Ohio State (25/22) are ranked from the Big Ten.

The top four in each poll remain USC, Oklahoma, Auburn and California.
