Men's basketball slips in polls

Badgers fall after loss to Pepperdine Saturday

The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team fell to No. 23 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll and No. 25 in the Associated Press poll after beating UC-Santa Barbara last week but losing at Pepperdine Saturday.

The Badgers (2-1) had been rated No. 17 on the coaches' list and No. 20 in the media rankings. Pepperdine (4-1) is receiving votes in each poll after its convincing 75-61 win.

Wisconsin next takes the court at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, when it hosts Maryland (3-0) at the Kohl Center.
