Bairu wins Canadian championship

Second national title for junior in two weeks

Wisconsin runner junior Simon Bairu not only holds an NCAA title, he now holds a Canadian one as well, after he won the senior race of the 2004 Canadian Cross Country Championship in Toronto Saturday. Bairu, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, won the gold medal in the10,000-meter race in 29:50, finishing seven seconds ahead of silver medalist Paul Morrison. This is the third Canadian championship for the Big Ten Athlete of the Year.
