"It is going to be the day I come back from Michigan State," Shaughnessy said.
The Spartans will receive Shaughnessy's fourth official visit the weekend of Dec. 10, capping a run of trips to Purdue (Nov. 19), Boston College (Nov. 26) and most recently Wisconsin (Dec. 3). Those four schools remain in the mix for Shaughnessy's commitment.
Of the three official visits he has taken thus far, the trip to Madison has been the most impressive, Shaughnessy said.
"It was a lot better than all the other ones," he said. "It was great…It was just an overall good trip. I liked the host I had at Wisconsin [freshman receiver Joe Walker]. All the coaches were nice.
"I just liked it a lot. Nice town. I got to go to the banquet [Friday night]. It was a good time."
Shaughnessy, however, said that the Badgers do not necessarily lead Boston College, Purdue and Michigan State for his services.
"It's too early to say anything," he said.
Shaughnessy received three in-home visits last week, with Wisconsin defensive line coach John Palermo, Boston College assistant head coach Jerry Petercuskie and Connecticut defensive coordinator Hank Hughes all making the trip. Purdue defensive ends coach Gary Emanuel is expected to visit Shaughnessy this week.
