Men's basketball notes: Wilkinson day-to-day

Senior forward sat out Thursday's practice

Mike Wilkinson, Wisconsin's second-leading scorer and leading rebounder, is day-to-day with a lower left leg injury, Badger athletic communications representative Brian Lucas said Thursday. The senior forward sat out Thursday afternoon's practice and wore a walking boot on his left leg.

The Badgers (5-1) next play at Marquette (8-0) Saturday at 7:35 p.m.

"I coach whoever is on the floor," UW head coach Bo Ryan said. "I never talk about who isn't there."

Sophomore forward Alando Tucker also sat out Thursday's practice, officially resting as he has often between games this season. Tucker is still working into pique physical shape after returning to health from two foot injuries that forced him to redshirt last season.

"For a young man to not get the reps…. it's going to have it's effect, hopefully not too much on the negative side," Ryan said. "Cause look how he developed his freshman year when he was practicing every day."

Tucker leads the Badgers with 15 points per game this season while Wilkinson is averaging 13.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per outing.

"I'm hoping both Mike and Tuck will be there Saturday," Ryan said.
