Men's basketball No. 19

The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team is ranked No. 19 in each poll after splitting its games last week. The Badgers lost at home to Illinois 75-65 on Wednesday night but rebounded to beat Penn State 76-50 on the road.

The Badgers remained steady at No. 19 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll, but fell one spot to No. 19 in the Associated Press rankings.

Wisconsin is one of three Big Ten teams in each poll. Illinois remained No. 1 in each poll for the ninth consecutive week. Michigan State is No. 12 in the AP and No. 10 on the coaches' list.

The Illini travel to East Lansing, Mich., to face the Spartans Tuesday evening. The Badgers return home to face Northwestern Wednesday night.

Hockey teams hold steady

The Wisconsin men's hockey team remained at No. 3 in the USCHO.com poll after a bye week. UW is No. 8 in the Pairwise rankings, which mimic the NCAA selection criteria. The Badgers face No. 8 Minnesota this weekend at the Kohl Center in Madison.

The women's hockey team, meanwhile, remained steady at No. 4 after losing two games to No. 1 Minnesota over the weekend. The Badgers are also No. 4 in the Pairwise. They will host Minnesota State Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
