Men's tennis wins against DePaul

Omole Co-Big Ten Athlete of the Week

Demi Omole, a sophomore on the Wisconsin men's track team, was named Big Ten Co-Athlete of the Week Tuesday, along with Michigan's Nate Brannen.

Omole set a new conference and school record in the 60-meter dash at the Illinois Invitational last Saturday, winning his race in 6.62 seconds. This time surpasses the one set by Michael Bennett in 2000 of 6.66 seconds and earns Omole an automatic NCAA qualifying time. He is currently tied for first on the list of NCAA qualifying times this season.

Brannen, a senior, finished fifth at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games with a time of 3:55.11, the second-fastest indoor mile in college history. He missed the 31-year-old record by 0.11 seconds. Brannen also earned NCAA Division I Male Athlete of the Week honors from the United States Track Coaches Association.
