The Wisconsin women's tennis team (6-4 overall) defeated DePaul 5-2 Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
Wisconsin won the doubles point with wins from the duos of sophomores Caitlin Burke and Kaylan Caiati and freshmen Nicole Beck and Chelsea Nusslock. Wisconsin forged ahead, with Burke earning the fourth point by defeating sophomore Gergana Ganeva 6-2, 6-2.
Caiati quickly defeating junior Brenda Leung 6-0, 6-2, Beck took down sophomore Petra Rehusova 6-1, 6-1, and Nusslock defeated freshman Bojana Murisic 6-7 (1), 6-3, 11-9.
Men's tennis crushes Marquette
The Wisconsin men's tennis team defeated Marquette 6-1 Wednesday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
Wisconsin (4-7 overall) won two of its three doubles matches to claim the doubles point and proceeded to nearly sweep the singles points. The Badgers won the first five of its six singles contests, with only junior Steve Guntly dropping his match to the Golden Eagles (7-9).
"It was a good win for us," head coach Pat Klingelhoets said. "We played really well in singles to get a much-needed victory."
Sophomore Lachezar Kasarov clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Ian Kawas. Senior Alex Kasarov swiftly defeated opponent Eigis Vedrickas 6-0, 6-1 and freshman Jeremy Sonkin took down Troy Delmege 6-0, 6-4. Freshmen Felipe Bellido and Brian Ko also won their matches.
