Wisconsin commit scores 25 to win Division 2 title

Caitlin Gibson, who will join the University of Wisconsin women's basketball team in the fall, led Jefferson High School to its first WIAA Division 2 State Championship Saturday at the Kohl Center. The Eagles downed Green Bay Notre Dame 46-29, led by Gibson's 25 points, 12 rebounds and three steals. Gibson also added two blocks and two assists in the win.

Gibson averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds in six Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletics Association tournament games. Jefferson, which finished the season 24-2, earned its first trip to state under Gibson. While at Jefferson, she had 1,518 career points, averaging 18.5 points and 9.4 rebounds as a senior. She had a single game-high 35 points against Delavan earlier in the season. Gibson was a 2005 McDonald's All-American finalist.
