Men's basketball moves up in rankings; men's hockey slips

In the polls…

The Wisconsin men's basketball team moved up three spots in the final regular-season USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. Wisconsin (22-8 overall) jumped from No. 22 to No. 19 after winning two of its three Big Ten Tournament games. The Badgers are ranked No. 20 in the Associated Press Poll, up three spots from last week. Michigan State (22-6) fell from No. 10 to No. 15 in the Coaches Poll. The Spartans, though, only slipped two spots in the AP Poll, from No. 13 to No. 15. Illinois (32-1) remained at the top spot in both polls.

The Wisconsin men's hockey team (23-12-4) fell two spots, from No. 9 to No. 11 in the USA TODAY/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15 men's hockey poll. The Badgers dipped three spots in the U.S. College Hockey Online Poll, from No. 8 to No. 11. The Badgers moved up two spots, from a tie for 13th to a tie for 11th in the PairWise Rankings.

The Wisconsin women's hockey team (28-8-1) is ranked No. 2 in the nation in the USA TODAY/American Hockey Magazine Top 10 and No. 3 in the USCHO poll.

Divers fail to qualify for NCAAs

University of Wisconsin junior diver Amanda Witte placed 11th on the platform board but her score of 324.65 at the NCAA Zone C Meet did not qualify her for the NCAA Championships. Witte also took 30th on the 1-meter board with a score of 206.90 and 33rd on the 3-meter board with a score of 194.60 at the meet, held in West Lafayette, Ind.

Freshman twins Justin and Josh Bonner also competed but failed to qualify for the national championships. Justin Bonner took 25th on the 3-meter board with a score of 236.90 and 30th on the 1-meter board (198.60). Josh Bonner took 30th on the 3-meter board (203.80) and 31st on the 1-meter board, earning a score of 195.25.

"The Bonners held their composure well and at the end of the weekend, gives us a good indication of where we are at," Seykora said.
