Hansen to stay at Wisconsin

Wisconsin swimming coach interviewed at Stanford

Eric Hansen, the University of Wisconsin men's and women's swimming coach, will remain at Wisconsin, after interviewing for the vacant head women's swimming coaching position at Stanford.

"My staff has put a lot of effort into developing outstanding intercollegiate programs for both the women and men at Wisconsin, and we've got more work on the horizon," Hansen said in a prepared statement Monday. "On a personal basis, I really enjoy the quality of life in Madison. On a professional level, I appreciate the administration's commitment to building a competitive natatorium for our teams in the future."

The Badger women's swimming team earned an 11th-place finish at the 2005 NCAA Championships, while the men finished 18th. In his six years at the helm, Hansen has coached 14 female and four male Big Ten Champions, 32 All-Americans (19 women and 13 men), and Olympians Adam Mania and Carly Piper.
