McGhee no longer listing Wisconsin

An update on Houston linebacker/running back prospect

Last month reported that Davyon McGhee, a 5-foot-10, 198-pound class of 2006 linebacker/running back prospect, had Wisconsin among his list of favorites, with Colorado in the lead for the Langham Creek (Houston) product. The Buffaloes are still McGhee's favorite, but the Badgers currently are not on his list.

"Colorado is recruiting me pretty hard, along with Texas Tech," McGhee said. "I have spoken with (Colorado running backs) Coach (Shawn) Simms a couple of times and he is telling me good things. CU is my leader right now."

Rounding out McGhee's top four are Texas Tech, SMU and Texas A&M. "I am going to the CU one-day camp towards the end of the summer," McGhee said. "I will also go to A&M's one-day camp."

McGhee will now be focusing his attention on stuffing running backs instead of pounding the ball at linebackers. "I have made a permanent switch from running back to linebacker," he said. "We have a real good quarterback here and our offense has gone to a spread scheme where we feature four wide receivers. I will see more action on defense at middle linebacker. Plus, that is where most schools are recruiting me so it works out well."

He has received phone calls this month from all the aforementioned schools, plus Colorado State, Utah, Arkansas, Tulane and Kansas.
