Wausau East wide receiver Ben Fischer receives a Big Ten scholarship offer

Wausau (Wis.) East Coach Jack Synold confirmed Wednesday night that Lumberjack wide receiver Ben Fischer has been offered a football scholarship by the University of Minnesota. Fischer is a three sport star for Wausau East, the school that sent linebackers Mark Zalewski and Andy Crooks to the University of Wisconsin in the last few years.

Last season, Fischer was the second leading receiver in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with 29 receptions for 658 yards, a 22.7 average per catch. He ran the ball seven times out of the backfield for 79 yards, an 11.3 yards per carry average.
