Five UW commits on Midwest list

Jake Bscherer ranked No. 11 in the region; target Lance Kendricks makes big jump

Five verbal commitments to the University of Wisconsin football program made the latest edition of Scout.com's Midwest Hot 100.

First among them is left tackle Jake Bscherer (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) who is the No. 3 offensive lineman in the region and the No. 11 overall prospect in the Midwest. Bscherer was ranked No. 15 in June.

Other Badger commits on the list include No. 37 Gabe Carimi, a right tackle from Cottage Grove, Wis., No. 44 Lance Smith, a tailback from Warren, Ohio, No. 63 Daven Jones, a wide receiver from Cleveland, and No. 98 Kimuel Royston, a wide receiver/cornerback from Minneapolis.

Several uncommitted UW targets also grace the list, including the No. 2 prospect in the state of Wisconsin, wide receiver Lance Kendricks (Milwaukee), who is currently the No. 2 receiver and No. 14 overall player in the Midwest. Kendricks shot up 28 spots from the No. 42 ranking he held in June.

Other players of note who have expressed UW interest include No. 6 Thaddeus Gibson (linebacker, Euclid, Ohio), No. 38 Jordon McMichael (tight end, Minneapolis), No. 42 Arvell Nelson (quarterback, Cleveland), No. 50 Jovani Chappel (cornerback, Trotwood, Ohio), No. 52 Adrian Cannon (wide receiver, Pontiac, Mich.), No. 55 Bill Nagy (offensive line, Hudson, Ohio), No. 61 Brandon Hoey (defensive end, Arden Hills, Mich.), No. 62 Sean McWhirter (defensive end, Long Lake, Mich.), No. 64 Cody Faulkner (offensive lineman, Arcadia, Ind.), No. 76 Deon Williams (running back, Rockford, Ill.), No. 77 Mike Hartline (quarterback, Canton, Ohio), No. 79 Mitchell Moore (running back, Gurnee, Ill.) and No. 94 Mike Canfield (quarterback, Lansing, Mich.).
