Volleyball up three spots to No. 10; men's cross country remains No. 1

The University of Wisconsin volleyball team moved up three spots to No. 10 in the latest CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, released Monday. This following the Badgers dominant performance in the InnTowner Invitational over the weekend. UW swept all three of its matches, including Sunday's contest with then-No. 11 UCLA.

Four other Big Ten teams are ranked: No. 4 Penn State (9-2), No. 5 Minnesota (10-1), No. 16 Ohio State (7-2) and No. 19 Purdue (11-0).

The Badgers (8-1) host Minnesota at the UW Field House at 7 p.m. Friday and host Iowa (9-3) at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Men's cross country remains No. 1

The Wisconsin men's cross country team, idle last weekend, remains No. 1 in the Mondo NCAA Division I poll released Tuesday. UW received 11 of 16 first-place votes. Defending national champion Colorado is ranked No. 2 and has two first-place votes. Arkansas holds the third spot and has three first-place votes.

Other Big Ten teams in the rankings include No. 13 Iowa, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 21 Indiana, No. 22 Michigan and No. 25 Minnesota.

The Badgers compete in the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday in Minneapolis.
