Badger coach Barry Alvarez said Monday that Lawrence, who is not listed on the team's official depth chart for this week, aggravated a left ankle injury when he left last Saturday's 35-14 loss at Penn State in the fourth quarter.
"He probably won't be ready (for Iowa)," Alvarez said.
Third-year sophomore Marcus Coleman filled in for Lawrence against the Nittany Lions and is listed as the starter at left guard this week.
Coleman (6-foot-6, 309 pounds) has played this season as a tight end in the Badgers' jumbo package for goal-line situations.
"I thought he has played well in the jumbo formation," Alvarez said. "I did notice him on one of the touchdown runs of Brian's (Calhoun). He did a nice job pulling and occupying a linebacker. I think he's been solid."
Jack Ikegwuonu, who injured his hamstring in the first quarter Saturday, is listed as co-No. 1 at left cornerback with fellow redshirt freshman Allen Langford. Seniors Brett Bell and Levonne Rowan are listed as co-starters at right corner.
Badgers No. 16 in BCS
Wisconsin fell from No. 12 to No. 16 in the latest BCS rankings, released Monday, after its loss to Penn State. The Badgers are No. 19 in the USA Today coaches' poll and the Harris Interactive poll and No. 9 in the composite computer rankings.
Players of the week wrap
Thomas thrived on an offensive line that otherwise was out-played Saturday by a dominant Lion defensive line. Williams had five receptions for 102 yards, his third 100-yard receiving performance of the season.
This is the third time Thomas has won a share of the team's offensive player of the week award this year. Williams has been named offensive player of the week twice and special teams player of the week four times.
Defensive end Matt Shaughnessy and strong safety Joe Stellmacher shared this week's defensive player of the week award. Stellmacher led the team with 12 tackles against Penn State; Shaughnessy had five tackles, including one for loss, and a pass breakup. Shaughnessy has shared the defensive player of the week honor three of the past four weeks.
