Class of 2007 OL receiving UW interest

Evan Blankenship has two scholarship offers

Evan Blankenship a 6-foot-3, 300-pound standout from Center High in Monaca, Pa. appears to be near the top of the Panthers wish list for its class of 2007. Pittsburgh has offered, but they are not alone in their pursuit of Blankenship.

"I have offers from Pitt and Ohio State," Blankenship said. "I have been hearing from Notre Dame, Iowa, Northwestern, Boston College, Wisconsin, Indiana, Purdue, Akron, Virginia, and Marshall also."

Blankenship camped at Pittsburgh, Ohio State, and Penn State this summer.

Pittsburgh: "I had a lot of fun there. It was one of the best camps fundamentally sound camps that I went to."

Ohio State: "It was a great camp. Almost every technique that I use in a game I probably got from them.

Penn State: "It was the last camp that I went to, it felt like everything they taught I had already learned, but I had fun there."

The standout junior has been busy taking in his share of college game this fall.

"I went to Notre Dame (Navy); I watched three games at Ohio State (Texas, Iowa, and Michigan State) and one game at Pittsburgh (Syracuse)," he said.

Blankenship earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a freshman and again as a sophomore. Center finished its season 8-2 losing in the first round of the WPIAL playoffs to Ford City.
