Wrestling: Badgers finish 2-1 at Lonestar Duals
The Wisconsin wrestling team fell to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga 19-18 but came back to defeat Brown 36-3 and North Carolina 21-15 at the Lonestar Duals in Dallas Saturday.
Junior Tyler Turner (149), sophomore Craig Henning (157) and redshirt freshman Dallas Herbst (197) defeated all of their respective opponents to finish undefeated.
UT-Chattanooga won the first three matches of its dual with Wisconsin to take a 9-0 lead but Turner defeated Aaron Martin 3-2 and Henning defeated Jake Yost 7-4. UW picked up pins from senior Kelly Flaherty (174) and Herbst to take an 18-16 lead but Moc Israel Silva took down senior Lee Kraemer (197) 8-2 to give UT-Chattanooga the victory.
Turner, Herbst and Flaherty each pinned their opponents as the Badgers easily defeated Brown. Turner, Henning, Herbst and senior Tom Clum (133) all earned wins in Wisconsin's 21-15 victory over North Carolina.
"The loss to UT-Chattanooga was very disappointing, we just came out flat" said assistant coach Cory Wallman. "We were able to turn things around and win the next two duals, but we need to keep improving for the Big Ten season."
