The newspaper reported that Freeman and Davis were released after being booked into Jefferson County Jail. Initial court appearances have not been scheduled.
Freeman, 20, and Davis, 19, have been suspended indefinitely from practices and competitions, per the terms of UW's student-athlete discipline policy, the UW announced in a press release Thursday afternoon. They have the right to appeal their suspensions. During their suspensions they may continue to use the sports medicine facility, academic support center and weight training room.
Freeman is also suspended indefinitely from the men's track and field team.
If Freeman and Davis choose not to appeal, their suspensions will continue until any charges have been addressed in the legal system and/or any applicable university or departmental disciplinary process.
