Badgers up five in team rankings

Wisconsin No. 33 on latest Scout.com list

For the University of Wisconsin football program, five new commitments meant five spots in the Scout.com team recruiting rankings.

The rankings, which are updated each morning at 5 a.m. Central., showed the Badgers' class of 2006 at No. 38 Sunday.

But after receiving verbal commitments from three-star athlete Niles Brinkley (St. Louis), two-star quarterback Scott Tolzien (Rolling Meadows, Ill.), two-star athlete Diondre Jenkins (Racine, Wis.), one-star athlete Josh Nettles (DeFuniak Springs, Fla.) and one-star defensive end Ricky Garner (Pasadena, Calif.), the UW class jumped up to No. 33 Monday, with 826 points from Scout.com.

The Badgers' current class of 2006 is ranked fifth in the Big Ten, behind national No. 6 Penn State, No. 8 Michigan, No. 12 Ohio State and No. 26 Illinois.
