New Berlin (WI) Eisenhower tight end, defensive end, Danny Kaye made an early verbal commitment to Wisconsin this past weekend. Eisenhower head coach Jeff Setz had this to say about his blue-chip recruit.
"Danny is a terrific athlete." Setz said. "He's a basketball player and he was a baseball pitcher until he hurt his arm. Obviously with his size he decided to concentrate on football.
"Danny says that he wants to play tight end, that's his focus. Coach (Barry) Alvarez at Wisconsin said he'll give him that chance so everything seemed to fit for him (Kaye) as far as making an early decision.
"Last year, I had a bunch of good tackles, so I decided to move Danny to tight end and he became a very good player for us. He made a lot of one-handed catches and we moved him to fullback and let him carry the ball as well.
"Iowa, Michigan, Purdue, Northwestern and a few others have offered. Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Nebraska, Stanford and Colorado were all very high on him but hadn't offered yet. Wisconsin is getting a very good football player and young man."
