Tommy Zbikowski, a 6-foot, 185-pound, dual-threat quarterback from Buffalo Grove is one of the most sought after prospects in the nation. Zbikowski has scholarship offers from just about every school except his childhood favorite. Check that!
Notre Dame offered Zbikowski at their summer camp this week. "I had a good time at Notre Dame." Zbikowski said. "I worked mostly at defensive back and I learned a lot from (Irish defensive back) coach (Trent) Walters.
Walters is responsible for the grooming of defensive backs Kevin Smith and Aaron Glenn at Texas A&M and he tutored several All-Pro defensive backs while coaching under Dennis Green with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Irish have definitely thrown a monkey wrench into the recruitment of Tommy Zbikowski. Tommy grew up a Notre Dame fan and took in his first Notre Dame football game with his uncle and former Notre Dame football player, Pete Schiverili.
The Irish are not a lock to land Zbikowski but they would have to be considered the front-runner. Tommy has kept a level head during the entire recruiting process and we don't expect that to change. Look for the hard hitting, silver gloves boxing champion to take some official visits before making a decision.
Zbikowski recently camped at Iowa as well and he was very impressed with the Hawkeye coaches and facilities. "Iowa was great." Zbikowski said. "I worked out at defensive back at Iowa as well and I learned a lot from (defensive backs) coach (Phil) Parker.
"I'm not in a hurry to make a decision. I'm on my way to Nebraska for camp right now and then I have a day off before going to Bowling Green with my team.
"I'd say right now that I want to play defensive back in college. The only school I would consider playing quarterback at would be Nebraska."
Tommy Zbikowski is considered one of the nations top dual-threat quarterbacks and he's the #14 ranked quarterback in the country by theInsiders.com
