DaJuan Warren, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound, quarterback from Southfield, Michigan has made a verbal commitment to Illinois. One Big Ten coach said Warren was one of the five best athletes he saw in the Midwest during the May evaluation period.
"Yes, I committed to Illinois." Warren said. "Coach (Ron) Turner told me that he would give me a chance to play quarterback, that's why I chose Illinois.
"Everybody else that was recruiting me wanted me to play wide receiver. I wanted to play quarterback and Illinois has the type of offense where I think I can be successful.
"Another thing I liked about Illinois is that Coach Turner works very close with the quarterbacks."
Warren had also received offers from Minnesota, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Wisconsin and Toledo.
Warren threw for 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior. He threw for 1,465 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore. DaJuan is also a basketball and track standout.
