First of all, I wanted to say welcome to everyone checking out this site for the first time. We are thrilled to be ushering in a new era of University of Wisconsin sports coverage, with BadgerNation.com and Badger Nation Magazine.
This site is part of the Citadel/Insiders network, which is partnered with Yahoo and has the resources to bring you the most comprehensive coverage of Badger athletics available anywhere.
I know there is some confusion about how I ended up at this site, having edited Inside Wisconsin Magazine and insideuw.com over the last five years. Here is the message I posted at insideuw.com last night, hopefully clearing up some of the confusion:
"As many of you have noticed, I have not been producing content for this site recently. I am not the owner of Inside Wisconsin, which is under contract to Alliance/Rivals.com. I am leaving this site because I was presented with a unique opportunity from TheInsiders.com to start and own my own Wisconsin site - BadgerNation.com, which just went live today. I will also be the primary writer for a new Wisconsin monthly magazine of the same name, which will be produced by TheInsiders' print publishing company, Citadel Publishing. You will be able to order the magazine from my new website shortly.
The owner of Inside Wisconsin Magazine is negotiating to sell that magazine (or most of its assets) to Citadel Publishing. Don't be too concerned about this, because part of the deal will be that anyone who has unfulfilled subscriptions to Inside Wisconsin Magazine will get a BadgerNation Magazine subscription instead. BadgerNation Magazine will have the same great content, but with a new format - heavy stock, color, glossy magazines similar to Sports Illustrated, with great professional photography and layout. We think you will like this new product a lot.
The owner of this site and Inside Wisconsin Magazine is getting out of both businesses to pursue other opportunities. As most of you know, I have been providing the majority of the content for the Inside Wisconsin magazine and website over the past five years. I will continue on, with a new home and name. It's not the end, but a new beginning. I am really excited about this opportunity and hope you will check out my new site, message boards and new magazine.
I hope you all enjoy our free and premium message boards, stories, recruiting database, photos, and much more. We are thrilled to have one of the nation's top recruiting experts, Chris Pool, as a regular contributor to this site. You can read Chris' recruiting coverage and expert opinions on a daily basis at poolrecruiting.com, and he will be regularly checking in at this site to answer your questions and help provide UW recruiting content.
It's just four weeks until fall camp, and the 2003 recruiting season is heating up, so it's time to get down to business. If any of you have any questions now or throughout the year, please feel free to post them on our message boards or e-mail me directly at Ronwhtwrth@hotmail.com.
Again, thank you so much for your business now and over the last five years. Our success comes directly from the enthusiasm, dedication and loyalty of Wisconsin fans, and we appreciate each and every one of you more than you know.
Welcome to Badger Nation. We trust you are going to be happy with our new website and magazine.
Sincerely, Ronny Whitworth
