Adonis Thomas receives first written offer

New Jersey class of 2007 tailback prospect names five favorites

Newark, N.J., running back Adonis Thomas got the proverbial ball rolling recently with his first written offer. "

I got my first offer from Kansas State recently," Thomas said. "I also have been hearing a lot from Florida, Michigan State, Iowa, Marshall, Illinois, Minnesota, Syracuse, and Wisconsin."

The 5-foot-9 1/2, 170-pound prospect has five favorites at this point in his recruitment.

"My favorites right now are Michigan State, Kansas State, Iowa, Florida, and Minnesota," Thomas said.

"I like Michigan State because they are in the Big Ten which doesn't really have many backs with my style of play as a scat back catching the ball out of the backfield and all that.

"I like Kansas State because they have a run inside offense that features the running back a lot.

"With Iowa the running backs have the chance to catch the ball out of the backfield and get to the open field which is what I do best. They feature a lot of plays to get their backs to the open field with room to work.

"Florida always has good receiving running backs. I would also have the chance to run for 1,000 yards. They always have athletic running backs down there.

"Minnesota always has two running backs that they work with and they feature the running backs a lot in that offense. Plus, my former teammate at Shabazz, Amir Pinnix, is up there playing as a running back."

Thomas has already attended the Elite and All-American combines but he isn't done traveling yet.

"I do plan on heading down to Kansas State on June 26 and I want to get to some other schools too but I haven't made any other plans yet," Thomas said.
