Luke Swan Looks Great on Film

There's a couple of prospects in the Badger State that could surprise in 2002. Keep an eye on quarterback Lee Waechter from Kewaunee and wide receiver Luke Swan from Fennimore.

Luke Swan, a 6-foot, 180-pound, wide receiver from Fennimore, Wisconsin will be a prospect to keep an eye on in 2002.

Swan had a big junior year with 1,434 yards receiving on 72 catches with 17 touchdowns to his credit. Luke also had 10 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.

We were very impressed with Swan on film. He looks very athletic and quick. It's easy to tell a gamer when you see one and that's just what Swan is.

Will he end up playing D-1 football? Maybe, Maybe not, but he will show up on Friday night and put on a show.

"I don't have an offer yet." Swan said. "I'm hearing from a lot of schools right now. I get a lot of mail.

"Wisconsin would definitely be my #1 choice. I also like Northern Illinois, Iowa, Western Michigan and Northwestern."

Swan reminds me a lot of a prospect that came out of Illinois a few years back by the name of Eric McGoey. McGoey is at the University of Illinois but nobody gave him a shot at playing D-1 ball at the beginning of his senior year.

McGoey played at Wheaton (Warrenville-South) on the same team as Northwestern wide receiver Jon Schweighardt and Illinois quarterback Jon Beutjer. McGoey had a platform to showcase his skills and he made the most of it and earned a scholarship to Illinois. The stage is set now for Luke Swan.

Even though Swan had a tremendous junior season, he'll need to show he can do it again in 2002. He can play in the Big Ten. I've seen several prospects who have made believers out of coaching staff's in December in January.

Luke Swan also letters in basketball and track. He carries a 3.6 GPA and scored 26 on his ACT.
