Week One and I AM ready for dat foosball

How much longer until kickoff? Wow has it been a long eight months. But, the time is upon us to kickoff the 2006 College FB season. JPM is ready for duh foosball!

Ohio State vs. Northern Illinois Well, if this were a game played on the beauty of the residents, I would give the Huskies the nod hands down. When Cindy Crawford is your native daughter - you win. However, football will be played. High octane offenses will light it up early. High octane offense, will light it up often.tOSU

Vanderbilt vs. Michigan There is no question that a Commodore is more powerful in the world than a Wolverine. Unfortunately for Vandy, in the world of football a Wolverine packs a pretty big punch. Meeeeeeeshigan

Northwestern vs. Miami (OH) This is going to be a bitter sweet game for the Wildcats. They play against a team that scrapes and claws just like they do. To top that off, they have to play the first game of a season that may be remembered more for who is not there than who is. But….I like Pat Fitzgerald. Northwestern

Minnesota vs. Kent State Boy, do the little furry rodents get lucky in week one. They are unsure in the backfield and on the offensive line. Their defense will be a bit suspect until proven guilty all season….but, the schedule makers have, perhaps, the worst team in D1 football on tap for week one. MinneSOHHHHtuh

Idaho vs. Michigan State The other Drew in the Big Ten is no slouch. Stanton have been lighting people up with his feet and right arm for what seems a lifetime. This week is just a pre-cursor for what lies ahead. They are going to go Vanilla Ice on their opponent (‘light up the field and wax the opponent like a Vandal'). Hello Irish! Michigan State

Indiana State vs. Purdue When you are playing a school that has a former alumni basketball player as the only really recognizable figure, things look good for you. And, for a team like the Boilers who are trying to find an identity, that is a very good thing. Purdue

Montana vs. Iowa There will be four things about this game to watch. (1) How long will Tate play? He has been battling an oblique injury. (2) Will former IC prep standout-turned criminal Greg Coleman be able to lose the emotions of playing for the other team? (3) Will Iowa hit 50 points? (4) How many beers will be dropped from the new outdoor club seating area into the general public seating area? Iowa

Akron vs. Penn State

Graduation has torn the Nittany Lions apart. Akron lost its all-conference QB Charlie Frye. JoePa is 101 years old. The Zips have been playing football for less than that. In this wonderful game of attrition…Penn State…in a close one

Indiana vs. Western Michigan James Hardy may be one of the five best WR in the country only the people in the area have heard about. Western Michigan is coming off a winning season and a bowl game. The MAC is getting tired of being pushed around by the Big Ten bullies. W. Michigan

Eastern Illinois vs. Illinois It was disappointing to me that the Zooker did not reveal his latest bench press max weight in this year's Illini FB media guide (he did in 2005). But, it is good to know he is able to recognize which players play where. But, I will never cheer for Illannoy. Eastern Illinois

Bowling Green vs. Wisconsin John Stocco looks to be the man…again. That emotional rush just gave the Badgers the shot of adrenaline to lead them to a big win. BGSU lost 83% of its total offense to graduation…bad, bad news when you are playing against a team with a defense that may turn out to be one of the top 4 in the BT. Badgers
