It was expected the four star running back from Bolingbrook, Illinois would make his way to Madison this weekend to watch the Badgers host Illinois. Those plans have now changed as Martin will instead make an unofficial visit next weekend to watch the Badgers host Penn State. For those that believe there is a possibility Dale Martin would still consider signing with Wisconsin if John Clay were to give the Badgers his verbal commitment, don't count on it. In fact, I would put the percentage of that occuring at less than 10%.
The first official visitor hosted by the Badgers this fall, there may not be a prospect higher on Wisconsin's board than C.J. Peake given the Badgers need for safeties. From what sources have informed me, Wisconsin is currently enjoying a comfortable lead for the four star safety. In fact, I would not rule out the possibility Peake gives the Badgers a verbal commitment before he even makes a second official visit.
The teammate of Badger commitment Brandon Brooks, linebacker Mark Martin has not had much talk directed towards his attention. Still, Martin is the top linebacker prospet in the state of Wisconsin in 2006. Wisconsin appears to be set on signing two more linebackers in this class, and from reports I have gathered, Martin is one of their top three remaining prospects at the position. I'd be willing to predict if the Badgers were to offer another in-state prospect, Martin would be next in line.
As I reported on the BadgerNation premium message board earlier this week, it is likely that North Iowa Area Community College linebacker Matt Weberpal will join the Badgers as a walk-on. A native of Antigo, Wisconsin, Weberpal is set to graduate in December, and would join the Badgers for spring practice. One would have to believe Weberpal would be given a chance in the spring to potentially earn a scholarship and the #2 spot behind Elijah Hodge on the depth chart at MIKE backer.
The talented duo from Immakolee, Florida will each be taking their first official visits to Wisconsin this weekend. While certainly Badger fans will be hard pressed to find bigger names to the Class of 2007 than Josh Oglesby and potentially John Clay, landing this duo from Florida could be just as important for the program. Wisconsin has gained valuable momentum in the Sunshine state in the past few years with players like Elijah Hodge and Culmer St. Jean on the roster. Still, they have not faced the competition they will face for both of these prospects from the talent rich area of Immakolee. Landing each of these prospects could taken the Badger's momentum in Florida to a whole new level. However, be cautiously optimistic as neither is likely to end their recruitments anytime real soon.
