On July 9, 2002 – Midwest Recruiting & Film Evaluation Reported
Luke Knauf, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound, offensive lineman from Stratford, Wisconsin is becoming one of the most talked about prospects in the Midwest. Knauf has a couple of scholarship offers and he's in no hurry to make a verbal commitment.
"Iowa and Wisconsin have offered me a scholarship." Knauf said. "Iowa, Stanford, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Northwestern are my favorites.
"I'm going to take some official visits at the end of the year and then I'll make a decision. Education is the #1 priority for me. I want to major in either biochemistry or pre-law."
Knauf transferred from Marshfield (Columbus) to Stratford after the school dropped its football program. Knauf played for his father at Columbus. Luke will be a four-year varsity starter in 2002.
Knauf was named all-state on both sides of the ball in 2001. He was named conference lineman of the year as well. He averages 17ppg in basketball and he also participates in track & field.
Luke carries a 3.85 GPA in the classroom.
Luke Knauf Coaches Comments
Stratford, Wisconsin is home to a talented offensive lineman named Luke Knauf. Knauf stands 6-foot-4, and weighs 285-pounds and he has a best time in the 40-yard dash of 5.1 seconds.
We caught up with Stratford head coach Cal Takes and he had plenty of good things to say about his top recruit.
"Luke will be a two-year varsity starter for us." Takes said. "The first thing the college recruiters look at when they see Luke is his size. Luke's dad is a football coach so he's been around the game his entire life.
"Luke has excellent feet, he's a competitor and he works extremely hard everyday at getting himself better. I think he can play guard or center in college.
"Luke also plays basketball and that just goes to show you how athletic he is. He's been all-state in football the past two years. He carries a 3.85 GPA in the classroom and Iowa has already offered him a scholarship.
Coach Takes said that Luke Knauf is definitely one of the best football prospects he's coached in a long time and that he should have several more scholarship offers before it's all said and done.
