Stocco, Zalewski to play in offseason games

The postseason is just beginning for seniors John Stocco and Mark Zalewski. The two senior standouts have been invited to play in college all-star games this month.

MADISON, Wis. -- Two former Badger football players will be participating in postseason college all-star games over the next eight days.

Quarterback John Stocco, who guided Wisconsin to 29 victories in three years as a starter, will play for the West squad in the Hula Bowl at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on Sunday, Jan. 14. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CST with ESPN televising the game live. Stocco, a Davey O'Brien Award semifinalist in 2006, finished second on every major Wisconsin career passing list.

Linebacker Mark Zalewski, a two-time Badger team captain and the team's leading tackler (90 stops) in 2006, will be participating with the East team (coached by NFL legend Don Shula) in the East-West Shrine Game at Reliant Stadium in Houston on Saturday, Jan. 20. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. CST, with ESPN2 handling live coverage. Zalewski was a key figure for the 2006 Badger defense that finished No. 2 nationally in points allowed per game (12.1).
