"Once again this season we look forward to playing a challenging non-conference schedule that we hope will prepare us for Big Ten Conference play," UW head coach Bo Ryan said. "The combination of some tough road trips and a demanding home schedule should help our team as the season wears on."
Edgewood will make the short drive down Monroe Street to Dayton Street for the first exhibition game, on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Kohl Center. The Badgers will then host UW-Eau Claire, a school Ryan coached against 30 times while at UW-Platteville, on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.
"I really enjoy being able to play schools from our area during the exhibition season," Ryan said. "I have tremendous respect for both Coach Adrian and Coach Gibbons. I know both games will be well-played and great learning opportunities for our players."
The Badgers open the regular season on Nov. 11 at the Kohl Center against IUPU-Fort Wayne. UW will then host the America's Youth Classic, a four-team round-robin tournament, on Nov. 15-17. As part of the tournament, Wisconsin will play Savannah State (Nov. 15), Florida A&M (Nov. 16) and Colorado (Nov. 17). The tournament, which benefits the Eddie Robinson Foundation, is in its ninth year and has been hosted by schools such as Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt and Oregon.
On the Saturday following Thanksgiving, Georgia will head to Madison to face UW. The Badgers close the month with their first road game of the season, at Duke on Nov. 27, as part of the annual Big Ten-ACC Challenge. That game will start at 8 p.m. and be televised nationally by ESPN.
December opens with a home game vs. Wofford on Dec. 3. Wisconsin then welcomes long-time rival Marquette to the Kohl Center on Dec. 8. That starts a three-game stretch of in-state opponents for UW. On Dec. 12, the Badgers make their first trip to UW-Milwaukee since 2001, Bo Ryan's first season in Madison.
Wisconsin's final two non-conference home games, both against members of the Horizon League, sandwich finals week. The Badgers host UW-Green Bay on Dec. 15 before facing Valparaiso on Dec. 22. UW closes the non-conference schedule with a game at Texas on Dec. 29. That game will start at 11 a.m. and be televised nationally by ESPN2.
The Big Ten portion of the Badgers' schedule has not been released. The Big Ten Conference will release that schedule later in August.
