Badgers Offer Henry's Former Teammate

Immokalee, Fla., running back Carl Elie has a Wisconsin scholarship offer. The 5-foot-11, 192-pounder, rushed for 1,350 yards as a junior and he's the former teammate of Badger defensive back Aaron Henry. We caught up with Elie as well as Immokalee head coach John Weber to talk recruiting.

"Wisconsin has offered Carl Elie a scholarship and I can tell you that it definitely helps that one of my former guys, Aaron Henry, is up there in Madison." Said Immokalee head coach John Weber.

"Carl is an excellent back. He's got great vision to the hole, he can cut on a dime and his speed is exceptional. Carl doesn't have the Reggie Bush type home-run speed but he's extremely quick."

Badgers assistant coach Dave Doeren recruits the state of Florida and he's as well received in the Sunshine State as Randall McCray is in the state of Illinois.

"Coach Doeren is a great guy," Coach Weber said. "He's a straight-shooter and tells you like it is." Ellie added.

"I've been coaching for a long time and I know when a coach is giving me a line and Coach Doeren is as real as they come." Weber said.

"Coach Doeren is very easy to get along with," said Ellie. "He's real and he's east to talk to. We talk about life, college and just football in general."

We asked Ellie if he could tell us which schools are in the hunt for his services.

"Wisconsin and South Florida have offered," Ellie said. "Florida International and Florida Atlantic have both said they are going to offer soon.

"I'm getting calls from Miami, Clemson, West Virginia and Southern Miss.

"I don't have any offers yet. I'm pretty focused on my senior season. I feel great about Wisconsin right now with Aaron (Henry) up there.

"My family, my pastor and my coaches are all supporting me and they said they will love me and support me if I go to Canada, Germany or anywhere in the United States."
