What's Up With Wes?

There have been a lot of rumors lately about St. Louis (Mo.) De Smet wide receiver Wes Kemp. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder is verbally committed to Wisconsin but the success of his home-state Missouri Tigers has him taking a closer look at things in Columbia.

"I've looked at Missouri but I'm still 100% committed to Wisconsin." Wes Kemp told Badger Nation.

"Missouri is having a great season, my father is a graduate of Missouri so I think that's why was intrigued enough to take a look.

"I don't think it would break my father's heart if ended up at Missouri but I can say with confidence that my entire family was extremely happy when I committed to Wisconsin."

Before last night's quarterfinal 27-20 win over Ft. Zumwalt West, Kemp had 27 receptions for 623 yards and 10 touchdowns Wes has 6 sacks on the defensive side of the ball.

De Smet is now 8-2 on the season and will play a semi-final state play-off game next weekend. Kemp was named all-area and all-conference. Wes informed us that the all-state team has yet to be selected.

Kemp made his Badger official visit in September.

Extra Point - I didn't originally call Wes to grill him about looking around at other schools. I've been doing this long enough to know that crazy things could and will happen before signing day.

I called to get a highlight DVD of his senior season and the subject of looking around was brought up. I honestly feel that there will be a few schools that will test Kemp's commitment but after the dust settles, Wes will honor his verbal commitment and sign with Wisconsin.
