Jersey Athlete Talks Badgers

Matt Dortch, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound, athlete, from Valley High in Wayne, New Jersey, has been offered a scholarship by the Wisconsin Badgers. Dortch talks about his schools of interest, the leader for his services and his upcoming state championship game.

"Wisconsin has offered and they are probably my leader right now," Matt Dortch told Badger Nation.

"Wisconsin is my leader because of the offer and they are the only school that has offered me right now. I don't want to commit to Wisconsin until I visit there and I see if it's a good fit for Me.

"I'm going to Syracuse this weekend. I like the coaches over there and I'm familiar with the program. They (Syracuse) have started to show a lot of interest in Me.

"Iowa, Cincinnati and North Carolina State are also in contact with me on a regular basis."

Dortch is absolutely tearing things up in 2007. Valley is 11-0 heading into a Nov. 30 state championship game with rival Wayne Hills.

"I've rushed for 1,400 yards and I have 500 receiving yards so far this year." Dortch said. "I have 30 rushing touchdowns and I have 6 interceptions on defense. I was just named all-area and all-conference.

Dortch takes his state leading 30 rushing touchdowns into the lions den on Nov. 30.

"Hills have a 40 game winning streak and they are our biggest rival," Dortch said. "The game is going to be played at Giants Stadium and it will be televised by MSG Network."

Dortch also letters in track and baseball. He's been the county champion in the 300-meters the past three years.
