Focus '09 - Safety Keithan Hedrick

Keithan Hedrick, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound, safety, from Midlothian (Ill.) Bremen is a junior to watch in the Land of Lincoln. Hedrick started his high school career at Marian Catholic in Chicago Heights but transferred to Bremen for his junior season.

"I started out at Marian Catholic and I was on the varsity over there for my sophomore year." Keithan Hedrick said.

"After my sophomore year, I decided to transfer to Bremen and it ended up being a good move for me. I had a very good junior year. I was named team most valuable player as well as all-area and all-conference."

Bremen coach John Casson had this to say about his top prospect.

"Keithan (Hedrick) already has a lot of schools looking at him." Coach Casson said.

"Coach (Mike) Locksley from Illinois likes Keithan a lot and there are a few more schools that seem to have a serious interest at this point.

"Keithan is a tough kid. He really loves the game of football. He's a thick kid who plays hard, tackles well and he's a leader. Keithan is very intense. He's our team leader and team captain."

We asked Hedrick which schools he's most interested in at this early point in his recruitment.

"I'm getting letters and questionnaires from a lot of schools but the schools I like the most right now are Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri and Purdue.

"I went to the Nike Camp last year and I plan on going to some combines again this coming spring and summer.

"I wanted to make it down the Army Junior Combine but that didn't work out but I'll be hitting some camps and combines for sure."

What are Hedrick's goals for his senior season?

"I want to help lead my team to a state championship and I want to be named all-state." He said.

"I have a real passion for the game of football and I'm always trying to be the best leader I can for my teammates and I'm always trying to get better. If I work hard, everything else should fall into place."

Keithan Hedrick had 80 tackles and an interception which was returned for a touchdown in 2007.

He also rushed the football 121 times for 721 yards and 6 touchdowns. Hedrick also had 8 receptions for 149 yards.

Grades shouldn't be a problem, Hedrick carries a 4.9 GPA in the classroom.
